Talking Rich stole my video!!!!

Honestly, this was just hilarious to me. Just a bunch of whining coaches about things that really I could give a darn about and many other officials could give a darn about. I might have laughed at most of the comments if said.

Peace

I had a 3-second violation in my first game and I don't think I've had one in a game since. I've had plenty of people yell it, usually when the ball is bouncing on the rim after a shot attempt.
Least favorite call one keep moving and after that blow the whistle.

Murphy's law, whenever I'm watching for 3 seconds, I miss something.

Continuing warnings are dead wrong.

Continuing warnings are tiresome. If I'm still talking to post players in the third quarter, I'm not getting my message across. I'll talk early, but a whistle and an off-ball foul will get the message across much better, I've found.

If that's what happened, that's a legitimate beef, IMO.
You've never talked a kid out of the lane?

I went to an IAABO camp one summer, and your butt got chewed bigtime if the clinicians heard you talking to kids in the lane. That said, outside of the jurisdiction where Bainsey officiates, get out talk was frequently used. Unofficially. IAABOwise.

Stupidity. I guess you aren't suppose to talk to kids about hands out front or pushing in the low post either.

Just another reason I'm glad I live in an IAABO-free world.

I am going to have to agree. IAABO seems from another universe. So glad I do not have to work under that stuff either.

Peace

I learned a lot under IAABO. Sometimes, there was a difference in opinion in various areas, though. Some of the mechanics used in one area under IAABO would definitely not have been used in Maine. One thing that is stressed is to constantly go to camps, seek advice, and to improve one's game. Some of the stuff I do in games down in FL, such as get out-knock it off type of stuff, I learned up north.

You say stupidity. I say enforcement. Either way, you do what you're taught.

I don't see a big deal about whistling a three-seconds violation, or any foul in the low post (providing I watch the play through). But again, I was taught that it's not a big deal. IAABO is my universe (travel and rec league games notwithstanding), so like anywhere else, you adhere to the celestial laws.

I talk a fair amount officiating soccer ("hands DOWN!"... "keeper has it" .... "PLAY ON!!!"), but it helps when you don't have to keep the whistle in your mouth.

Now, that's something that you'll find in any universe!

I work in IAABO land as well, and we are expected to talk them out of the paint. Normally, I say "get out of the lane," and I've never, not once, had a coach complain.

Now, if I'm saying it all game, it's a problem. I think I'll try "keep moving" and see how it works.

But the fact is, in my big square of IAABO land, the practice is expected rather than condemned.

That's the one I use quite a bit. I do it early and don't keep doing it all game. They get the hint 99% of the time.

I could be wrong, but I believe NY uses modified NCAA rules rather than NFHS rules.

Quite honestly, I have a greater problem with partners who chew on me for calling 3 seconds AFTER I HAVE TOLD THE PLAYER TO LEAVE THE PAINT QUITE DISTINCTLY than I do with guys telling players to get out.
