You let him keep the arrow, though, right?

I would tell him that he will get 2 of the next 3 AP arrows, .

We didn't let him have the AP the rest of the game.

No, of course he got to keep it, he just wasnt allowed to take it home with him as it was the visiting team that night.

Never bring out a rulebook at halftime. If coach does, get away from him. If he persists, take care of business.

If the guy is that adamant about a kicked call, use the proper channels. Let him ask the local referee's board for a ruling, or he joins an officiating forum to ask a question.

I have emailed the rules / cases to coaches the day after the game. But, it depends on the coach and your relationship with him/her.

Same here, the night of the game I avoid coaches as much as possible.

I have done this in 6th grade and younger rec leagues when the coach is truly interested in knowing the rules (which is rare). At the MS or higher, I wouldn't recommend doing this ... after all, how would you feel if the coach brought you the rule book at half time and showed you how you (or your crew) kicked a call?

Some years back, in my second season, I had a coach question the penalty for a second D.O.G. warning.

The opposing team had two plane violations. Since this is a team technical foul, it doesn't affect their coaching box. This coach said he lost his coaching box for the same thing earlier in the season. He wanted to see the rule, so he cordially agreed to meet my partner and me after the game to check the book.

It took a bit for us to find it (though I could pratically turn to the page now), but it was a productive meeting. The more knowledgable the coaches are, the easier our jobs will be.

I would not bring out the book after the game. I did, on one occasion, boot a rule myself. After I looked it up I sent the rule, and casebook plays to the AD at the school I was working. I asked the AD to pass the message along to the coach with my apologies.

No. But your best answer in this situation is: It's one exception in the rule, coach.

Whenever I explain a rule to a coach and they tell me I'm wrong I say, "Coach, I have a rule book in my bag. Let's look it up. If I'm wrong, I'll give you $100 - but if I'm right, you have to go out into the parking lot and wash my car. Is it a bet?"

I've never had a coach take me up on that.
