Another 3/10 of a second question
With 3/10 of a second on the clock and the score tied. A1 in bound passes to A2 who tips ball in and when returning to the floor fouls B2 who had legal guarding position. What is the out come? NFHS Rules please Reference.

Quote:
If BEFORE, PC foul on A2, no basket. Assuming this took place at the end of 4th qtr, give both teams an extra TO, we're going to OT. A2 is considered airborne shooter til he returns to the floor. If AFTER, basket good, ball dead, assess foul only if intentional or flagrant. Game over, A wins 4-1, pg 25 4-19-1 note, and 4-19-6, pg 30 You're welcome

Read the definition of airborne shooter.

I get the point of the call. but did he ever really have control of the ball. Player control just doesn't fit. I understand that is the rule as per deff of airborn shooter but the verbage bothers me I guess.

While you may not be able to catch and shoot a ball with 3/10ths, there is no reason a player can't control the ball in that time.
