P90x is very good. Also Insanity with Shaun T is very good. It is a different type of workout than P90x but I would recommend it over P90x. A lot of the workouts are similar to P90x plyometrics but they are much harder, the moves themselves are much harder with no time in between exercises (most of the workout do have breaks every so often.) Insanity really is the most difficult workout program out there.

As one with bad knees, I found that wii FIT and wii ACTIVE are really good. Maybe I am past my "macho" phase so anything that sounds like a secret military program (P90X) or named "Insanity" I ry to stear away from, even though I am sure they work! I just started wii ACTIVE this year and was REALLY suprised by the work out I got. The only thing I DON'T like is the amount of lunges you do. It really helps the knee, but I have ALWAYS hated lunges!
Also, nothing can beat aquatic workouts if you have bad knees. The problem is getting to a pool!! Fortunately for me, the PT office I go to has a therapy pool so I get to spend quality time with all the old lady's!

Snaq, if you are looking for a workout that lessens the load on your knees i do not suggest Insanity. It is high-interval training with a high impact on the knees. It definitely will not help your knee problems

Maybe do different calisthenic exercises that don't hurt the knees

Best at-home workout for me is very simple:

1) Lift corn chip.
2) Dip corn chip.
3) Chew corn chip.
4) Repeat.

The classic 12oz curls.

Snaqs, the Wii Fit is not bad and has gotten cheaper I think.

I've heard many good things about EA Active also.

Plus you can get netflix through the wii which will allow you to do JR's recommended rehab.

The proverbial win win if I've ever heard of one. As an aside, the Wii fit board makes a great decoration when you've given up working out and decide to just play Mario Kart. Not that I know anything about that...

He will have to use his foot to help with the rehab, though.
