coaches box

Coach is warned to stay in the coaches box. Is it necessary to record this warning in the scorebook?

check local listings. It's not an NFHS requirement. The warning itself isn't required. However, there are some states (at least one) where it's highly recommended; virtually required.

I believe it's recorded under NCAA rules.

Rule 4-47 is not relevant. That rule lists the official delay-of-game warnings. It has nothing to do with a coach leaving his box. That isn't a DOG warning. Rule 10-5 is the relevant rule and that doesn't mention issuing a warning before penalizing.

What is this mythical "coaches' box" of which you speak?

It's what coaches call the "coaching box." Silly monkeys think it belongs to them.

It wouldn't be quite so bad if they thought of it as the coach's box, and not the coaches' box.

You wish a couple of them would take their box and go home!

It is where normally upstanding citizens turn into crazy, frothing from the mouth, clipboard slamming, foot stomping babies.
