Fan on the floor

Guys
This happened in my GV game last week. We in Massachusetts have been discussing staying after the game for a post game handshake for two years now.
Home gym is in an uproar. The home team has blown a halftime lead because of this official team apparently. I had a least two charges against the home team in the second half and was really the "bad guy". I am standing in the circle during a timeout with 1:30 left in the game waiting for the warning horn.
I was thinking we did a great job tonight in a hostile atmosphere with at lousy table by the way (at least 5 resets of the game and 30 sec shot clock).
Just before the horn I realize I have company in the circle. A 60 something year old women has come out of the stands behind me and beginning to tell me what a great job me and my partner have done. I was stunned. My eyes hit the table in front of me and the AD is standing there smirking. I tell him to get this person on the floor and obviously out of the gym. I then tell him we are not staying for the post game handshake and want to be let into the locker room immediately after the final horn. (It was about a 10 point game at the time with the "good guys," ha ha losing.)
The game horn sounds ,,, we run to the locker room and no one is there to let us in. This is a giant field house and there were lots of hostile fans hanging around and we are outside the door waiting for a least a minute or two.... seemed like an hour. Some else (Not the AD) lets us in and I tell him we want the AD to escort us to the exit when we are through changing, which he does. I spy another official in street clothes near the exit and tell him that he might get a call from our assignor whom I am going to call the sec I get my partner to her car and me in mine.
My assignor backed us 110% , called the AD, MIAA and anyone who should be involved.
Yes, Guys this does happen and will happen again. I never thought so but here you are. Could have been a 6' 5" angry dad not a 60 year old women also.

1. Removal of fan from building.
2. Team Technical foul for a follower being so out of line.

I am in the minority on this, but the only way to stop this poor behavior is to penalize it by holding that team accountable. Until this is done, these acts will continue to be prevalent.

When the AD stands there and smirks while she tells the official her opinion, I'm all for the T here. He shouldn't have to be told how to deal with this situation.

I hate it when there's a fan on the floor. An air conditioner - OK, but a fan - no.

NO.

If you make that call around here, you won't be working varsity level games.

The purpose and intent of the rule is very important here. The rule makes it clear that this is an extraordinary remedy, and should only be used when there is a clear disruption. The ONLY time I would ever make such a call is when there is a concerted effort by multiple individuals. The best example is the Florida game in the late '80s when the fans threw down tennis balls late in the game because one of the Florida players had reportedly spit on a kid at a tennis court. Or something like that.

Here's the thing; it's game management's job to 1) keep this from happening or 2) stop it as soon as they see it.

To see the AD (game manager) smirking about it and have him need to get told to deal with it? Unacceptable. While I wouldn't necessarily issue the T, I'd be hard pressed to argue with an official who made that call.

Add that to the fact that MA has decided the officials need to stick around for the post game "sportsmanship ceremony" (hand shake line), and I'd be more inclined to pour some T on this situation. Out of principal.

Too bad that the folks in your area don't take care of business.

It's also a shame that you wish to center your thoughts on this around some NCAA game from the 80s, but if you wish to use college games for references you might wish to check out the recent Montana/Montana State game in which a T was called on the home team for a fan throwing a promotional mini basketball onto the court.
