No 35 on the other team.

If we knew for certain only 4 fouls - what happens to the extra team foul?

Other alternatives

1. Review the video tape
2. Ask the fans for a vote.
3. Ask the radio guy to review his book, noi Radio/TV has ever lost a game or made a mistake.

That's funny you say that 'cause that's what the visiting coach asked us to do.

Obviously going to the video would not be an option here, but I think the point is that we use all of the resources available to us to get the call correct. If the official book said the score was 42, but the home book, play by play, and visitor book all had the score at 41, I should hope its pretty obvious what we would put the score at......

... OK, but at what point do you move on then? Meaning, are you gonna make the official book find the error or note some justification before changing it? And if he/she can't figure it out, then what?

All three books could support the scores with the running score. The home team book was being kept by a frumpy high school kid, the visiting team book was being kept by Billy Bubba in a John Deere cap, The clock/scoreboard was being run by a teacher whom, until the night before, had never done it, and the official book was being kept by a midle aged woman who appeared alert and intelligent. That's what I had to go on.
Sounds like the home team doesn't care about really keeping score.

Sounds like some games around here where I live.

What game did the person do the night before?

Interesting that there were 3 scorebooks, instead of just two. At least you had 1 reliable person keeping score (official scorer).

Which scorebook gave you the best attention when it came to reporting fouls & granting timeouts?

Yes. If (God forbid) an "official" book made an error, I plan to have them/us find it and fix it. More important to get it right than it is to get it done quickly...
