I'm trying to get out of this habit; it's annoying me.

If you go "by the book" it says to only verbalize color and number, then visually signal the type of foul.

I tend to verbalize some (can't get out of the habit of saying 'push' and sometimes 'block'), but others (like 'hold' and 'illegal use of the hands') I never say. I don't know why (other than I wouldn't ever say 'illegal use of hands' if I didn't have to).

Since I've done so many years of clock/book at D-I games, I've picked up a lot of those refs' reporting habits - my signals aren't always the ones in the book, and I'll just describe what happened.

Of course, I haven't reffed a game on the court in many years, so it's a bit moot at this point.
