Anyways, I don't say that much... I say, for example: Time-out White, Coach (or whoever requested it), 30-second (or 60) [with signal], Spin it (while pointing at the table to start timing). |

Too Much Verbiage ...
Agree. We're not supposed to. I'm on our local training committee and we tell our cadets to keep their verbiage to a minimum when reporting to the table.
It's not, "I've got a foul on white thirty-two for a hold. Blue ball out of bounds on the side". Instead it should be, ""White. Thirty-two. Hold. Possession blue." As tjones1 posted, it's not, ""Full timeout requested by white coach granted." Instead it should be, "White Time. Coach. Thirty. Start the clock."

The majority of what I've heard, is like what you posted. Some of the times, I've heard it this way: "Full (or 30-sec.) Timeout (with appropriate signal)White coach. start the clock (with signal)" |

Who Remembers "Name That Tune" ???
I can call that timeout in three words.

Timeout (signal full or 30-sec.), white (signal who requested it), start (give start clock signal)??
Or is it "Time (signal full or 30-sec.), white (signal who requested it), start (give start clock signal)?? Last edited by chseagle; Mon Jan 11, 2010 at 06:46am. |

We just looked this up in the Official's Manual about 2 weeks ago. The correct TO reporting procedure is:
|
|

I've actually been told by some evaluators to not even verbalize what the foul is. If you go with the "by the book" calls, a coach can start arguing "that's not a hold!", etc., etc.
