Shoot the ball from bottom, is it count?

Hello,

My first question,
Lets say u stand under the basket and shoot the ball up (fast enought to pass the net), now the ball is passing the net and the rim until its height peak and then falling down into the basket.

Is it count as score?

My opinion is, that if the ball in his peak is above the rim plane, then its count as score.

(btw im talking mainly about 3v3 halfcourt game, but i think there is no rule difference in this situation)

First, this is a try, not a throw-in.

Second, here's the definition of a goal (NFHS 5-1-1): "A goal is made when a live ball enters the basket from above and remains in or passes through the basket."

Did your try meet that definition?

First

sorry for the inappropriate term, english is not my lang... i see now that throw in is when u pass the ball into play from outside. fixed.

thanks for the the rule, it seems that its count because the ball came from above before entering the basket. (the fact that it came from the bottom before that is not matter, that my opnion)

Once a ball passes through the rim from below, it becomes dead by violation. No basket.

Technically no, but it's not as obvious as that.

The ball entered from above and passed through the basket. However, it is not a live ball, because causing the ball to enter the basket from below is a violation, causing the ball to become dead.

So no goal, but only because the ball was dead.

While we're on the subject, how many times have we called this violation.
I've called it once in 23 years.

This is a definitions issue not an English issue. The term "Try" or "Throw-In" has a very specific meaning in the rules of basketball. The English term might not mean the same thing as the rulebook definition. Do not feel bad about that.

Peace

Player under the basket, ball is shot upwards through the basket from below, clears the top of the rim, and comes back down through the basket.

I remember seeing it at a camp once - it was a reverse layup attempt that was partially blocked. The only reason I remember it was most us on the sidelines did not see the defense tip the ball, so we were wondering why the ball was being given back to the offense for the throw-in. Once the official who made the call came by and explained what he saw, we all went, "Oohhhhhhhhhhhh...ok".

I don't remember ever seeing it in a sanctioned game though.

I've called it, but only because a pass went off someone's head and then the ball went up through the bottom. The ironic thing was I didn't see who's head it hit (and knowing who to give the ball to). But, then the guy rubbing his head amounted to a clue, so I figured we'd go off that.

So the ball wasn't the only thing to go off that (head)?

Once in twenty-eight years, this past season.

Once that I can remember but it was a deflection.
