Foul while shot in air
A1 shoots the ball from outside while ball is
in the air A2 pushes B1 out of position to get rebound. 1. shot goes in 2. shot misses 2nd B1 pushes a2 out of way 1. shot goes in 2. shot misses. What are the correct calls to be made. |

![]() Once the ball is in the air on a try, the shot counts if there subsequently is a foul - either A fouling B or B fouling A. If A fouls B while the ball is in the air, report that the basket counts, report the foul, then give B the throw-in. If the shot misses, report the foul, then give B the throw-in. If B fouls A while the ball is in the air, report that the basket counts, report the foul, then give A the throw-in. If the shot misses, report the foul, then give A the throw-in. In each case, shot bonus if it applies.

Yes.

In each scenario, it makes no difference whether the shot misses or goes in. You still treat the foul the same way. The foul has no effect on the shot. The only foul that causes a shot to end and the ball to become dead is a player control foul by the airborne shooter.

That's right I think I was wondering more about the shot whether or not it
is good in any situation. So pretty much if there is a foul after the shot is under way it counts, unless PC. Then award the foul. Thanks, And no the shot was from inside the building. |

In both scenarios #1, you should condsider whether this might be incidental contact and be ignored.

Along the same line.
A1 shoots a three point shot, the ball is in the air and the shooter has both feet on the floor (not airborne) when B1 attempting to block the shot runs A1 over. The try fails and the referee signal 3 shots. Is this the correct ruling?

No.

Nope. The shooter has landed, so if fouled, it is a common foul, or possibly an excessive contact foul. By B1 "running over" A1 it sounds that A1 was forced to the ground, and was definitely taken out of opportunity for a rebound. Tweet: common foul. A1 could be shooting bonus; otherwise a throw-in for Team A after reporting B's foul.

however since the ball has been release and is in flight in the post the comment is correct.
