Several years ago a charter school opened, with classes only through 8th grade. I was sent to officiate one of their first games ever, which was played in a church gymnasium. I was talking to the guy who was to be the timer for the night, and he asked, "How many fouls before they shoot free throws?" I said bonus starts on the seventh. He nodded and said, "OK, so will you tell us when or do we need to keep up with it?"

8th grade game, player bringing the ball up against pressure...straddles the half court line, keeping dribble...goes back into the backcourt....Coach wants to know why I didn't call "back and forth"

Sounds Like A Classic Example Of Back And Forth ???
Me too. Why didn't you call back and forth?

A few nights ago...
VG game. Coach jumps up and comes to halfcourt line to bark at one of my partners. Whack (quick, but I don't have a problem w/ it). He signals the T and walks away. I go over to calm her down and she says, "I promise I didn't call a timeout!" We had to start from scratch.
