Starting 2nd half with T
I feel sure this has been discussed here before. But here goes, forget the sitch just say the second half starts with a T. The T is definitely not part of the 2nd qtr.
At the end of the 2nd qtr, the V has the AP. The H has a T to start the 3rd quarter. Give me the rundown and the rule that that lets V shoot 2 FT, get the ball for a division line throw-in and retain the AP. My partner tonight had this in his game the night before and I believe he got it right. I planned on e-mailing him a rules reference or case book reference to confirm that, but aside from 5-6-Exc4 and 10-1-Penalty I can't fnd another reference. Please help. ![]() I believe since you have a method to put the ball in play to start the 3rd qtr (division line throw-in) you do not involve the AP at all. Are we correct, as this was my partners thought too. |

Is there a rules reference other than the ones I mentioned or is that our only basis for it. I really would like to help my partner out with a rules reference.
He doesn't lurk here and doesn't have the benefit of tying all the threads together. Hehe, thats a pretty good play on words. I'll be here all week folks. ![]() Last edited by Scratch85; Sat Jan 10, 2009 at 11:27pm. |

I had the similar situation in a game except White had the arrow to begin the 3rd quarter, Blue received an administrative T @ the end of the 2nd quarter, we started the 3rd quarter with White shooting technical free throws and administering a division line throw-in and retained the arrow.......

For Coaches and Fans Without A Casebook ...
5.6.2 SITUATION B: Time for the first quarter expires while the ball is in flight during a field-goal try by A1. B1 intentionally fouls A2 before the field-goal attempt has ended. After the ball has become dead following the last free throw by A2, A3 flagrantly fouls B1. RULING: A3 is disqualified for a flagrant technical foul. Because the foul by A3 was committed after the first quarter had ended. The second quarter will begin with the free-throw attempts by any Team B player. Team B is then awarded the ball at the division line opposite the table for a throw-in. This throw-in does not affect the possession arrow. (7-5-4b; 10-3-7)
