Hard Foul Question
A1 is driving to the goal on a fast break and B1 approaches and commits a hard foul on the layup where B1 swipes wildly and hits A1 in the head. In the opinion of the official, its not enough to warrant a flagrant personal and an ejection but an aggressive act nonetheless.
Under NFHS and NCAA Mens rules, what are our options here? I am thinking Intentional personal foul or personal foul. Is there anyway B1 can earn a technical for his action in this case? Thanks,

By the explicit mention of not being a flagrant, and along with the language you used, it is clear that a hard foul [excessive contact] be called. There is no option to issue a technical foul to B1. However, a regular (non-intentional) personal foul can be called. The penalty for the hard foul is 2 shots with the lane cleared (assuming it's a layup from inside the 3-point line ![]()
