Delayed lane violation mechanic by Lead.
I had never seen this before I saw it in a tourney game last night, but I think it's a fine mechanic. Defenders wore Red, so I guess it was Louisville or Western Kentucky
2nd free throw, left side, white shooting. Lead is out wide. Table side Red player breaks early Lead stuck out his fist and took a couple steps onto the court (to be seen by both benches and table). Ball went in and Lead retruned to baseline. Does anyone here use it ? If you do, I think you look great, too. |

I saw what you say, but came to a different conclusion.
The official in question was Mark Whitehead.
I saw the same thing, but I was not under the impression that Mark did this to be seen. I thought he was doing this to be able to get an angle on the rebounding players, not to call attention to his call. That being said I could be totally wrong and we will never know for sure unless we talk to Mark directly. I have met Mark at a camp two years ago and I do not recall him advocating this as a specific mechanic or anyone else at that camp (or any camp) for that matter. That does not mean that he does not do this deliberately on this kind of violation. Peace

Yeah, maybe so! Maybe he was getting was an angle for more of the shenanigans. As I recall he did have the Delayed Dead ball out before he moved. That whole scenario told me he was *on it*. |

I also saw the same thing. My initial thought was that he did it to show the C he had the violation if the C did not see it. It appeared that the violator was closest to the shooter in which the C should have caught it.
Great communication technique on his behalf!!
