I hate the tip sign on a blocked shot. The first reason is that there is absolutely no reason for it - if the ball was blocked and you didn't call a foul, then obviously you judged the block to be clean. There's just no reason for it - the only thing it can do is cause confusion and look poor on just the type of play you described.

That said, Nevada did point out a couple places where it could be useful, but these are related to last touching...
