I've mentioned this game before, but last year I had a double-OT game in a small school girls JV contest. With 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter, the score was tied at 18.

At the end of the 1st OT, the score was still 18-18. Visitor missed two free throws with no time left in the 1st OT. Halfway through the 2nd OT, it turned into a shoot-out, and the visitors won 22-20.

I consider this the worst game I've officiated (not by measure of how I did, but the play) at the high school level. Neither team really seemed to want to win.

Couple games come to mind....

When I was a Freshman in HS, I was drafted to officiate a 7th grade intramural tournament. Our coach was also a certified official who ran us through a classroom and on-court clinic prior to the tournament.

One of the early round games that I did ended up 102 - 1. Eight minute running quarters, all free throws were shot. One team ended up pressing the entire game and scoring layup after layup. The free throw to score the point happened with about two minutes left in the game.

Several years later, when I started officiating HS ball, I started calling games at the local Boys Club. This was a 7-8 grade game, one team clearly better than the other. Final score was about 52 - 3. The three points were scored at the end of the third quarter. Player is just crossing the division line as he notices time is running out and just heaves the ball toward the basket. This ball was a line drive that went right in the basket. Probably the best moment of that kids life up until that point.

I had my first game in AZ last night (been in Phoenix 2 weeks now). Boys Varsity. 41-0 at end of first half. Was looking for the box score but couldn't find it this a.m. I guess the "new guy" doesn't get good games.

Well, I posted this sometime last week and then hadn't been back to see the replies. Glad to see that I'm not the only one that has had to endure this kind of stuff.
