When the FT shooter has the ball ...

When the A1 has the ball at the FT line and is about to attempt a shot ... can A coach call TO? Can B coach call time out?

What tjones1 said.

The ball is live and in control of A1. Therefore, the only coach who can legitimately request TO is the Head Coach of A.

Coach B cannot make a legitimate timeout request at this time. Coach B could have requested a timeout at any moment short of A1 receiving the ball from the official to start the FT. When the ball became live and in control of A1, Coach B's window to request timeout closed for the time being.

Do we need to go into who can "call" a timeout, or should we just let it pass due to the holiday spirit?

But the Grench would answer...

Neither coach can call timeout.

Both coaches may request timeout.

Only the request by Team A should be granted.
