Yikes ! Champs win !
White Sox beat Twins 6-3
Tigers Magic number is 1. "Due to the early start a day after a night game, Guillen sat six regulars — Joe Crede, Jermaine Dye, Paul Konerko, A.J. Pierzynski, Jim Thome and Juan Uribe — who have a staggering 188 homers between them." - USA Today |

And in breaking news.......Rogers Clemens is a juicer!
http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-...adlines-sports Jmo, but you coulda filed that one in the "No Sh!t, Sherlock" drawer. Know what would be funny? Bundle up Clemens, Pettite, Tejada, and the rest of 'em named, put 'em out in front of that Congressional Committee again, ask them the same questions that they asked McGwire, Sosa, et al....and watch 'em squirm. Who needs the Comedy Network? Not that I'm cynical or anythin'..... |

Considering where the Twins were at mid-season, it's just amazing that they're in the playoffs, let alone atop the division. I think I heard that they're the first team ever to reach first place for the first time on the last day of the season. The catcher, Mauer, is the first catcher to win the AL batting title and the first catcher ever to lead the whole Major Leagues in batting. Just a remarkable story.
Has anyone seen the ESPN promo for their playoff coverage? It features Tommy Lasorda in a tux trying to comfort a disconsolate Red Sox fan. He says, "It's time to cheer on those teams that HAVE made the playoffs." He turns to the women behind him and says, "Right?" One of them shrugs and says, "I'm from NY," with a typical smug NY look on her face. So Tommy turns back to the Sox fan and says, "Come on, it's time to root against the Yankees". I thought it was done pretty well.

1) Last year, this team that this pitcher played for couldn't decide whether he should be in the bullpen or be their fifth starter. This year, strictly as a starter, he went 14-11 with a 3.29 ERA playing for a poor team. He also turned into a horse, leading his team in innings pitched with 240. He's still young and it looks like he's got a great career in front of him. Hello, Branson Arroyo. 2) Last year, this 22-year old shortstop wasn't good enough to play for his team as a back-up. His contribution all year was 2 games played and 2 at bats. This year, he played in 154 games, hit .292, scored 119 runs, stole 51 bases and played good defense. And he can only get better. C'mon down, Hanley Ramirez. Btw, it's too bad that Manny took September off. If he hadda played, the BoSox mighta ended up in second place in their division. |

Well, it's now official.
The Rev. Johnny B. is now history with the Cubbies. Gee, what a surprise. He shouldn't be out of work long though. He's a pretty good manager when he's got a team. And now comes the guessing.... - Joe Girardi? - Lou Piniella? - Dilbert? - Billy Martin(I know, I know..but he's still livelier than some of the guys the Cubs have had lately) - ex-Cubbie Orval Overall(look it up) |

I'll pass along his info to the Cubs president, Andy McPhail. Whoops, never mind. He's in the unemployment line with Dusty.
