The catcher, Mauer, is the first catcher to win the AL batting title and the first catcher ever to lead the whole Major Leagues in batting. Just a remarkable story.

Here's two more remarkable stories:
1) Last year, this team that this pitcher played for couldn't decide whether he should be in the bullpen or be their fifth starter. This year, strictly as a starter, he went 14-11 with a 3.29 ERA playing for a poor team. He also turned into a horse, leading his team in innings pitched with 240. He's still young and it looks like he's got a great career in front of him. Hello, Branson Arroyo.
2) Last year, this 22-year old shortstop wasn't good enough to play for his team as a back-up. His contribution all year was 2 games played and 2 at bats. This year, he played in 154 games, hit .292, scored 119 runs, stole 51 bases and played good defense. And he can only get better. C'mon down, Hanley Ramirez.
Btw, it's too bad that Manny took September off. If he hadda played, the BoSox mighta ended up in second place in their division.
