Rule clarification - FT violation

Hey,
I saw something called and I cannot find a governing statement in the rules.
I was hoping someone could provide interpretation, or whether the call was unfounded.

Situation:
First FT out of 2; Shoot has ball.
Opponent lined up between 2 hashes closest to the shoot.
Opponent takes 2 steps BACKWARD (away from the neutral zone).
Is this a violation?
My understanding was "release" was define by entering the neutral zone, but the players' area to occupy extended back a few feet beyond the end of the parallel hash marks.

Anyone point to a rule for this?

ART. 2

The lane-space marks (2 *inches by 8 inches) identify areas which extend 36 inches from the outer edge of the lane lines toward the sidelines. There are three lane spaces on each lane boundary line.

9-1-3

ART. 3

After the ball is placed at the disposal of a free thrower:

a. He/she shall throw within 10 seconds to cause the ball to enter the basket or touch the ring or backboard before the free throw ends.

b. The free thrower shall not fake a try, nor shall any player in a marked lane space fake to cause an opponent to violate.

c. No opponent shall disconcert the free thrower.

d. No player shall enter a marked lane space or leave a marked lane space by contacting the court outside the 36-inch by 36-inch space until the ball is released.

e. The free thrower shall not have either foot beyond the vertical plane of the edge of the free-throw line which is farther from the basket or the freethrow semicircle line until the ball touches the ring or backboard or until the free throw ends.

f. A player, other than the free thrower, who does not occupy a marked lane space, may not have either foot beyond the vertical plane of the free-throw line extended and the three-point line which is farther from the basket until the ball touches the ring or backboard or until the free throw ends.

g. A player occupying a marked lane space may not have either foot beyond the vertical plane of the outside edge of any lane boundary, or beyond the vertical plane of any edge of the space (2 inches by 36 inches) designated by lane-space marks. A player shall position one foot near the outer edge of the free-throw lane line. The other foot may be positioned anywhere within the designated 36-inch lane space until the ball has been released.

Each marked lane space is 36 inches deep, but a couple of years ago the NFHS made a ruling that a player must keep one foot near the lane line. They didn't want players bailing out early and coming in from behind to go for rebounds.

So, yes, this is a FT violation and the shooter would be entitled to another attempt, if the initial shot is missed.

Correct, so movement within that 3 ft space is permitted.
The call I saw implied that movement within that 3ft space is NOT permitted.
This is what I could not find a rule for.

Note (g) where a player must have at least one foot near the lane line.

Depending on how much / how fast the player moves, it could also be disconcert ion.

What if the number of electrons and protons are balanced? Does it still disconcert the shooter?

I'm shocked that you would ask such a question.

We should be assessed double charging fouls.

Two atoms are walking down the street one day, and one of them says to the other: "Hey, wait up a second. I think I lost an electron". The first atom replied, "Are you sure?". The second atom exclaimed, "Yes, I'm positive!"

Two female chemists enter the bar. The dark haired one says, "I'll have an H two O." The blonde says, "I'll have an H two O too."

Keep your day job.

Also, hydrogen peroxide is not good for drinking.
