Batting Out of Order-Multiple Outs
No outs, B1 on 1st, B3 bats instead of B2 and grounds into double play. Before next pitch, defense properly appeals BOO. B2 is called out and B3 returns to the plate for his proper at bat.
Does B1 go back to first, or does the out stand (front end of the double play)? I know NFHS has rule language that says the B1 out stands, but can't find that in NCAA or pro books and internal discussion leans toward sending B1 back to first as part of wiping out B3's BOO. What is the proper NCAA and/or Pro ruling? |
