Pitcher - sunglasses & glove

1. Can a pitcher wear sunglasses? I've consulted many experienced umps in my area, I've received different answers? I know they can't be reflective, we all agree on that.

2. Can a pitcher use a first baseman's mitt?

3. Can other fielders use a first baseman's mitt?

4. Are the rules for OBR & Fed the same in these situations?

We've read OBR 1.12 to 1.14, get different interpretations.

Why shouldn't a pitcher be allowed to wear sunglasses? How is a pitcher different then other fielders?

When the pitcher is on the rubber, the rules dictate his body movements not his eyes. (i.e. the rules dictate, stepping to a base prior to releasing the ball, movement of his feet to step off the rubber, etc) No where do I see anything with regards to his eyes.

I think the rulebook is fairly clear that no one other then the first baseman can use a "first baseman's" glove.

Depends on the rulebook. FED allows it as long as it meets all other size specifications.

That may be so, in Canada we use OBR, so I'm not familiar with the details of the FED rulebook.

Well,

Rules reference please.

An umpire can determine if something is a distraction.

That is all you need to worry about.

When asking, and answering questions, it is best to reference the rules set that is being questioned (answered).
