I have no taste, I suppose, cause the black one doesn't seem all that bad.

Those are smocks.

I will personally slap the first umpire I see wearing one.

I swear, if MLB umpires started wearing those leather ball bags, some you groupies would be standing in line for them. Same with the $600 Nike masks.

The only stuff I buy from Honig's is IAABO related so I didn't know that he was selling LEATHER ball bags. That is absolutly disgusting. I had to see them to believe it.

At that price the shipping cost will more than the bags are worth... Wait a minute, on second thought the shipping costs have always been more than the bags are worth.

Those leather ball bags are great for carrying your deer jerky in when you're in the woods...

Does it look really unprofessional to wear ballbags with pouches on the outside for plate brush and indicator. I would never wear one of those.

RE; Nike mask

I have to admit, when I first saw Posada wearing that Nike mask with the single bar silver frame and black calf skin pads, I wanted one bad. After a tireless search and nothing but strange looks from the Nike people as well as ALL the team outfitters in my area, I knew it was for not. Then to read on this site that they go for upwards of $600, man, what was I thinking. On a similar but related subject. (sort of.) I have used a Cece Carlucci chest protector for years in levels of BB up to Pro AA as well as College Div. 1. It was made for me in '87 by Cece and though it was old, royal blue, vinyl, and heavy, it always worked. I got tired of hearing crap from fellow umpires, evaluators, etc... about the blue that showed above the collar of my shirt so I asked Cece to make me a newer type CP in black. I have already handed down my blue one and my new one is not done yet. I borrowed the right size BRAND NEW West Vest Gold for an AWL game this evening and took a direct shot right below the ribs. I am black and blue. Oh well, live and learn.

I junked the Gold as soon as I put it on for the same reason.

uh oh, fitump thinks we should all have the ump-attire ballbags, if you don't like it you must be against progress, i bet he has one of +pos fancy new indibrushclicker things in one of his zippered pockes. i don't like the bag, i love my wilson gold, and it is still cold here in western new york, now make sure you send another pm, this time say something about, oh, i got one for you, why not try "your mother wheres army boots," or something. hey does your new best friend, you know, MLB umpire mr. drake where one of them there fancy bags you like soooo much. now go wipe your chin and send me another message.

My Two Cents...

I'd wear a short sleeve windbreaker as soon as I'd wear a short sleeve dress shirt...

Ump-Attire ball bags do the job, I've never had negative feedback from a partner (Big Dog or Rook), and the zipper is a perfect place for car keys. Though I don't put the plate brush in the pouch, just my indicator.

Can't knock either WV, but I've been wearing a Honigs K1 for the six of the last seven years. It does the job just fine.
