Calling verbal Fair
Game situation, with R1 and R2 less then two outs. I am PU, batter hits a line shot down left field ball lands directly on chalk line beyond third base, I signal fair ball but catcher, who is quite loud is yelling foul. I then signal fair again emphatically but also yelled out fair.
Proper in this situation or never do this again ever?

Fed ball, it was a blowout game and the defense was on the losing side. Everyone kept play going with my fair call so I did not call for the verbal obstruction.
First time I yelled fair since my first year umpiring 30 years ago. I saw R@2 hesitate for one step between second and third when the catcher yelled I think that's why I yelled. Play developed smoothly from there with neither side gaining an advantage so I played on. BR got second and R1and R2 scored on the play cautioned catcher about yelling foul.
