Calling verbal Fair

Game situation, with R1 and R2 less then two outs. I am PU, batter hits a line shot down left field ball lands directly on chalk line beyond third base, I signal fair ball but catcher, who is quite loud is yelling foul.

I then signal fair again emphatically but also yelled out fair.
Proper in this situation or never do this again ever?
