Bob,
It appears you don't have PMs turned on. To turn them on, go to the: User CP > Edit Options ; scroll down the the second box of items (Messaging & Notifications), enable private messaging. Now you can follow my last post on how to send a PM.

tjones1, for giving the info on how to activate Personal Messaging. I wasn't aware that I did not have it active on my account. So, thanks to your post, I have activated it on my account, too.
