Sometimes eating is difficult or causes other problems. I ALWAYS alternate water and gatorade/powerade, and throw in a vitamin water or fruit juice if possible (and of course, every official's friend, pickle juice). It's electrolytes, potassium, and magnesium that you miss out on if you can't eat and only drink water.
