Illegal Pitch?
Who agrees? Move the rubber back to 50 ft. and let the pitcher do whatever she wants as long as she doesn't go overhand. They want us to call illegal pitches, but it's the end of the world when the rules of the game are enforced.

You are just a little late. I've been saying the same thing for a few years now.

Well, if it was a good idea, you broke it right there. You've still got things for us to enforce and for them to whine about.
And by the way, there are some in other organizations that have already tried setting the pitching distance to 10½ feet further back, allowing them to throw overhand, and they still have pitching rules to enforce.

Yeah, but they don't call the infraction an illegal pitch. I think they use a four letter word.

Sure they do. They only use that four-letter word when there are runners on base!

Illegal Pitch
Why not make the men and women fast pitch, pitching rule the same or the same as the ISA rule, the distance for women is fine at 43 feet across the board ASA 18, 18Gold, NFHS, and College, if you ask me. IMHO.
Thanks VA |

Why?

You weren't real clear, anyway. I think you might support if you are saying loosen up the female pitching rule to match the men; if you mean make the men pitch like the women, whatever little men's fastpitch remains will disappear completely.

Yeah, but wouldn't that do away with LBR?

50' is too far. "Letting them do whatever they want" is not unique, its most "nonchampionship" men's FP and its ugly. Hows a nice step then crowhop (Ie double crowhop) sound?. The problem with changing pitching mechanics is we need similar rules as NCAA so these girls are not disadvantaged by playing ASA. But if the NCAA and ASA got on board with requiring the toe to stay down but allow separation (essentially get rid of leap) and allowing the nonpivot foot to be off the rubber, I would be very pleased.
