It'd be nice if AT&T would come out with an Android phone. I know that Google is selling the Nexus One unlocked but I don't want to pay that much for one. I'll stick with my Blackberry 9000 for now, which loads both Arbiter and RefTown just fine.

Droid. I also looked at the HTC Droid lite (or whatever VZW actually calls it, I think it's the Hero for another carrier) and it didn't seem as nice/sturdy/useful/etc.

I really think I would like a Palm Pre. But being a Verizon user... VZW gets the Palm phones 6-9 months behind Sprint, and initially charges too much for them, so in no-time, Palm has quit making them for the next big thing they're making for Sprint and I'm left without a Palm OS smart phone. Has happened three times.

A while back I won a Palm Centro in a contest. But it turned out to be Sprint branded and Verizon wouldn't touch it, even when they started offering Centros. I ended up selling it on eBay.

That's odd, since Verizon and Sprint are both CDMA (which is why you can't put an iPhone on Sprint or Verizon).

VZ just says no.

However, my understanding is that each vendor has their own firmware that controls such things as phone menus and what bluetooth functionality works. VZW isn't going to allow a phone without their firmware to be used on their network and thinks that loading their firmware on the Sprint phone is just too much trouble for their field techs to learn to do, when they're "not getting any money", i.e. for the phone sale.

What they don't understand is that they're also not having to offset a subsidy/discount on the phone so they're actually getting my full monthly check... plus I would have had to buy and e-mail/data plan... yet more money.

So, I've just kept getting "free" or cheapest phones while waiting for "my" smartphone to show up.

Finally got it...

I finally got the Droid last night. What an awesome phone. I have only had it for 24 hours but would recommend this phone to everyone. Now to venture through all of the apps.

And like every other computer (which this phone is), it is probably already out of date.

So my new Android-based phone arrived yesterday. Absolutely LOVING it. I could test Arbiter out if anyone has access to a test account that I can try.

My geek meter is pegged off the charts right now.

Sending this from my Android phone. The advantage of having an actual browser on the phone. What doesn't this do?

Pay the bill to send that message for you.

Actually, we're on autopay. Automatically bills our credit card, and our bank's bill pay handles that every month. All we have to do is review the bill for inconsistencies.

Boy, you talk about a load of ****. Does the phone make deposits to the bank to pay for itself?

If it did, I wouldn't be here. I'd be sitting on a beach, adding 20%.
