I never thought about it until you mentioned it, but you're right. I haven't seen one in a long time. Perhaps it's the price of rifles and the litigious society that makes it so a man just can't even leave his loaded rifle in his truck anymore.

Welpe, have fun in Houston. It's a great place. If you don't know Spanish yet, the local Gringos might tease you for trying to learn it, but you'll enjoy yourself much more if you do. (I cut my Fast Pitch teeth on a Cuban men's league in Tampa.)

Oops, how nostalgic of me?!?!

Have they also put shoulders on the roads now so those crazy, Bud-swilling, young'uns don't need to pass you in the field while joy riding in the pick-up?

Hell, I'm so far behind the times, that is probably now an Amstel Light crowd in daddy's SUV.

Damn straight! Now back to cleaning my PT140. Like the American Express card, don't leave home without it.

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

AFAIK, most carry and conceal laws make it legal to conceal, not illegal to display.

Dakota is right, most people carry a concealed handgun here. The folks out in East and far West Texas still have the gun racks though. DPS gets about 70,000 handgun license applications per year here.

Welpe, I would choose to live more on the West side. Southwest is very high crime areas, unless you move out of Houston a little.

Such a different world from where I currently live.

Thanks Trooper, I'm finding that to be true upon doing further research. Do you mind if I send you a PM to pick your brain about specific neighborhoods to avoid?

Thanks again everyone!

Which is why I offer firearm training to my friends and family who are not familiar with firearms. From all reports, I seem to be a pretty decent trainer, and every person I've taken to the range to teach firearms and firearm safety seems to want to go back again and again.

Go ahead and send it; give me a day to check with the PD or SO to check the crime stats.

Thanks!

Welcome to Houston Monty. Depending on which side of Houston you live will dictate what kind of quality FP softball you will call.

Other associations around here are IFA, USFA, and USSSA that I know of. Most of the people on this board that are from out of state have no idea how diverse Houston really is. And, with regard to FP, you can call 7 days a week if you want.

Send me a note when you get here and I could steer you in the right direction.

Regards,
Andy
