I think in this case, prosecuting the parents would just be cruel. They've already lost a son, and no jail time in the world will bring him back or change the pain they feel.

The only reason that it struck in a "child's play area" that day is because children were playing there when lightning struck. The parents didn't take them home when they should have. If the parents would have taken them home instead of letting them play in a lightning storm then there would be no need to be concerned about where lightning struck. |

And now, God has nothing to do with lightning?!?! Wow, an agnostic that believes in Mother Nature. Next thing you know, evolution will be the ONLY option taught in our schools, assuming anything is allowed to be taught. Want to solve the issues with Cuba, Gitmo and North Korea all in one shot? Evacuate Gitmo, leave the prisoners and then tell North Korea they are forbidden to fire a missle at any island within 100 miles of the US mainland. Of course, knowing Korea, they will probably hit Martha's Vinyard

It is a legal definition matter as to whether CRIMINAL neglect was committed, but even if this passes the legal definition, I can't imagine any prosecutor actually filing charges.
Clearly, simple neglect was involved (as well as simple foolishness).

Just contact former State Senator Chambers from Nebraska. He tried to sue God once. Only failed because the judge asked for proof of service, and Chambers answer: God is all-knowing, He sees all, He knows all, therefore He knows He's been served. Judge didn't buy it, Chambers went on to file an appeal.

You're right. Way off topic. What occurred really is a shame and shouldn't have happened, but sometimes us simple humans just cannot control everything no matter how much we care to try.
