the UIC should inform the coach that he is an idiot and when he says its nothing personal that it is infact personal agains the umpire and sense he is so F'ing rediculous(the coach) to get to his dugout shut up and sit on his bucket. (homage to PA tournement and NAtionals)

I agree it has a raw feeling about it.. but there are circumstances where this is/should be honored and circumstances where it should not/ is not. I've seen both happen.

Maybe it prevents an antagonistic situation. Maybe the umpire does suck and doesnt handle it correctly. Maybe the coach can go kick rocks. I think this is a case by case call considering specific facts to a given situation.

Thumbs up

While the origianal question was about a National tournament, I have seen requests honored in local tourneys.

However, the old school way back when I started doing my first Nationals in the 80's was to ENSURE that the ump who had an ejection WOULD see that same team again in the tournament if at all possible.
The old school philosophy was to show the teams who was in charge, AND to show that the umpire truly was impartial and didn't hold a grudge etc.

It really did work and made the point that the teams didn't get to pick and choose who worked their games.

For the ump, it required that you put your attitude away and work that much harder to have a good game.

I agree with this philosophy 100%. Don't shy away and give in to the coach.

I though it was unusual for the UIC to honor the coach's request but wasn't sure how this situation was handled at other tournaments.

Thanks for your responses.

It was certainly a Lima Delta decision which is why I treat the Delta Zone the same as the Twilight Zone.
