No call on the obvious
As you all know, I'm not one for interjecting baseball into this board let alone MLB.
However, with the recent discussion of calling/not calling the obvious foul ball at the different levels and rule sets, I noticed something from the highlights shown from the MLB's North American Championship Series (sorry, cannot help myself). What I noticed were umpires making a safe call when there was no attempted tag on a runner who reached the base long before the ball. Also, umpires on the line, hustling out down the line on a basehit to the outfield. The ball would land 20-30 feet in fair territory and the umpire is running out there with his arm extended, ruling a fair ball. Well, running with the arm extended looked just as goofy as comparing the multible styles of footwear of the umpires. Also, if you wouldn't call the obvious foul ball, why call the obvious fair ball? Just an observation initiated by the thread we discussed. |

***HIJACK WARNING*****
[HIJACK ON]Is the ignore list worth the effort? I have been content with just ignoring the trolls in my own way, not automating the process; after all, one may accidently say something pertinent. I simply won't respond in a thread where they interact to any extent. And, some who occasionally seem to troll just for affect, other times contribute to the threads. For all I know, some may see me that way.[/HIJACK OFF]

I used to feel that way about the poster, but too high a percentage of his postings are one or more (and frequently several all at once) of the following:
- pointless - posted just to rabble rouse - ignorant - without logic at all - wrong And, even after being proven wrong, sometimes wrong many times over and proven so by many people, there is the continued insistence he is right. It is not to "punish" him, it is merely to improve my enjoyment of the board by completely removing everything he posts before I ever read it.
