I am trying to make a list of one-liners to read before each game. I'm calling the sheet "The Obvious".

Here's what I have so far:

1. Inbounding player must step over the line, not on the line to violate.
2. Always back out towards the table when administering free throws (2-man or 3-man).
3. At tip-off, jumpers face opposite their bench.

Any more suggestions?

Make eye contact when administering free throws and inbounding the ball.

The other two are on my actual pregame card.

I think this was just in another thread. Double whistle on the block/charge. Make sure you know who's suppose to come out with it.

If you do run backwards, you could end up with a broken wrist like I have now .

Remember the person who is fouled (the person who will shoot.)

Maybe "stay with the shooter" is a better term than "protect the shooter." We shouldn't be giving any more protection to the offensive player than we give to the defensive player should we?

It's just a saying, Zebe. I suppose different people mean different things by it. The advantage gained by the defender if she gives a slight bump to the shooter, is probably greater and more worthy of a call than the advantage gained if the shooter gives a slight bump to the defender. So it looks as though we're calling it tighter on the shooter, yea.

I know it's just a saying. Not trying to be pain in your butt, just thinking that "stay with shooter" is better than "protect the shooter."

At camp, I was once told that contact is initiated by the offensive player 20%-30% of the time yet a foul is called on the defensive player 95% of the time. His point is that we shouldn't "protect the shooter" because we already protect them way too much.

Okay, the next time we work together, I'll use "stay with the shooter" in my pre-game.

No big parties to be the life of tonight?
