Friday night I did a 10U
Bottom of the 5th, 2 outs I see lightning. I call the game and have the kids leave the filed. Both coaches argued with me to continue. This was a rec league. Non-championship game! Then when I refused they demanded money back!
Best game to ump: 2 teams of orphans!

If you turn up your speakers you can hear the umpire say he called dead ball right away when one of the players (who apparently was studying the dictionary that day) started screaming "you have to call that instantaneous".

However, what do you want these guys to do? They forfeited the game. And with common SP mentality, only when they heard the umpire say the game is over did they resolve themselves to finishing the game.

Why is it these idiots think it is okay to act like a$$holes and then once they realize they've gone to far, all of a sudden they don't understand why the umpires are leaving? And though more prevelant in SP, there are a fair amount of FP adults (including youth coaches) who act in the same manner.
I'n not condoning the players actions but I do have issues with the umpires particularly the Plate umpire.Mike my problem with the Plate ump was how meekly he made the call. Then he lets the players carry on. I also believe if he had ejected someone he may have been able to restore order and regain control of the game and finish it. Suspending or forfeiting a game should be a last resort.

Never having umpired an AA game, I hesitate to engage in "what I woulda done" comments, but the first guy who charged the umpire should have been ejected (maybe even with the MLB heave-ho). Would that have restored order? I doubt it, given the attitudes of the entire team... maybe after 3 or 4 ejections they would have settled down, but then they may have forfeited at that point due to being shorthanded.

I agree, though, that the PU seemed to be unable to project the necessary authority to maintain control.

After seeing this video several times, I personally wouldn't have called anything. As PU, I probably wouldn't have been concentrating on the BR's feet instead paying attention to the ball and where it was at. I'm probably wrong but that's OK and nobody would have argued with me about not calling anything. I'm not against people arguing with me it's just that I'm not that nitpicky about where BR's foot might be when running to 1B. I personally don't care if his left foot is 1" inside fair territory and if he gets hit in the back by a thrown ball, I have "nothing".

Wouldn't this call be BU's?

Regardles of the call
#7 is real close to gone to start.
#23 is headed to the parking lot.
The coach (#7 who is walking on a razor blade in a mudslide) is told to remove his team from the discussion. If he fails to do so, the player who continues to argue and #7 is gone.
"That's enough, Let's play"
If the fiasco continues eject until forfeit.
