Question

Okay this is a simple question that I am totally brain farting on. Summer league game, NFHS rules, NO one on, 3 - 0 count, ball 4 SAILS over backstop. ( I have NEVER had this happen before!) Walk or walk plus base for out of play. Runner went to first. No one questioned. I said nothing, play continued.

Wouldn't ball 4 result in a dead ball anyway?

I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

*shrug* I don't call NFHS. Just took a stab at it on a boring Friday night. Wife hasn't moved into my place yet (just got married).

Had to wait for my roommate to move out first. He's now on his way to Louisiana. Mrs. NCASAUmp moves in tomorrow (gotta clean like hell first).

No, get a club and drag her across the threshold by her hair.

The key to the cleaning situation is too simply get a second domicile. That way when she starts in on one of her inevitable mood swings, you can just crash at your current place. If you had done this, not only would have have an escape plan already in place, but your roommate wouldn't have had to move out.

Well, she had her own apartment, but it was a tiny, 535 square foot one bedroom place in a not-so-nice area (in fact, my stereo, GPS and brand new Cobra XRS 9930 radar detector got jacked on our wedding night - no joke!). My buddy wanted to move back home to Louisiana and be closer to family anyway, so this was just his excuse.

Woah... This thread got hijacked in a major way. Oops...

What's the big idea of discussing softball in this topic?

NCASAUmp, Congrats on the new mrs. Now get her moved in and calling games with you! You were "sorta" right. This ball (not all ball fours's) IS dead.

8-4-3-c PENALTY
The ball is dead and all runners are awarded one base only. The batter is awarded first base only on the fourth ball.

Well, she's from Argentina, so her knowledge of softball/baseball is very limited. It took me about 5 minutes to explain what a force out is to her. "Well, why does he have to leave the base?"

We Americans take much for granted.
