If a first baseman catches a ball under his chin, or between his knees..whats the call?..safe. Why..because he/she has no possession/control of the ball.

When a pitcher does the same thing in the circle why would we interpret that as having possession/control ?

I'm voting for no look back rule violation. I also think that in the spirit of the rule, the founding fathers thought possession & control to be synonymous.

Are you resuming the original discussion? It is now moot. Remember what I said just above - the ASA rule has been modified. Among other things, they have added the phrase "... and control" to the rule.
