BU positioning

Runner on 1B. I am in my proper postion behind and to the left of the F4. I have been taught on a steal to run parallel to runner. But where should I aim for on a pick off attempt to get the best angle ? My thoughts are either head towards the foul line or get up into the base path for the angle ?

thoughts and opinions please ......

That would be a preferred starting position as long as you are comfortable with the position.

On a pick-off attempt, you are going to need to read the play. Parallel to the runner is the prescribed path, but you go where you need to go and get the best look at the play as possible.

Depends on where the runner is trying to return (and generally, which fielder is attempting the pickoff tag). If 1B is tagging, runner will generally slide to the outfield side of the bag, and the base path is the best 90 degree angle. If 2B is tagging, runner will generally go straight to the bag, and tag is on the 2nd base side, so parallel to base line gives you the best 90.
