Does anyone know where I can go to maybe print some instructions on positioning for a one and two man crew. I'd appreciate it. Got my first game on the 30th (varsity) and my second game is a varsity tourney where the Schaumberg Flyers play. I just want to be in good position to make the calls that I need to make. Half of looking like you know what you are doing is being in the right position, or at least close.

Internet Resources

If you are looking for "free" resources for information on mechanics, I would recommend http://www.umpire.org That site has articles and mechanics section that contain good information to start. Also if you go to their Message Board and then enter keywords to search for threads you might be to find some good information. Another good resource is http://www.amateurumpire.com

If you want to pay, I would recommend Carl Childress' book Working the Bases/Working the Plate. The book is available on the Gerry Davis website [url]http://www.gerrydavis.com[/url)and covers everything you need to get started.

Good luck.

Mike: Thanks for the plug. I fixed the URL for Gerry Davis so that it's hot.
