NFHS has always been about letting the players play.

No, there will not be an out in the 9th position.

We'll assume the coach (or whoever was making out the lineup card) was distracted and simply forgot to add the 9th batter. For this, s/he will receive a team warning, the player's name will be added to the 9th spot, and we'll play on.

Since it wasn't one of the 3 subs, it appears to be a simple oversight.
