Isn't Elite the "[...] highest umpire level within their National Federation [...]"?

Pretty sure. I didn't read the application before I posted. I was still assuming Elite was required, and I've got 0/2 qualifying ASA/USA Nationals under my belt at this point, so there's that.

Physical requirements: chair stand test – minimum 22 sit/stands in 30 seconds;

Wall sit test – minimum hold of position – 110 seconds;

27 meter (87 feet) dash – minimum time of 5 seconds; and

to run a distance of 1,600 meters (1 mile) in 12 minutes or less.

Sounds easy enough, even for a fat boy like me. Wonder if I can getting a running start at the sprint? That's just around the length of most basketball courts.

That is correct. You must first have ASA/USA Elite as a prerequisite to application.

Even then, some (I can attest) never get assignments, even if a more highly rated umpire at that certification school. Politics play a hand here.

It is required to be Elite prior to applying for WBSC (formerly ISF) certification.

Don't worry about it.....you will get there!

Used to be you could be "qualified" ISF prior to achieving the minimum ASA minimums. Don't know if they still allow that.

Is this the same "Elite" as all these "elite" teams I see during travel ball, you know, the ones that are almost always far from it.

I'd love to see teams just name themselves funny self deprecating stuff. Totally average vs run of the mill. That's the marquee game.

Nah. I'm just gonna make everyone call me Elite from now on. Kind of like that skit on Bob and Tom of "El Conquistador"
