I admire your determination to remain in the 1% that interpret it this way. Fortunately this rarely if ever actually happens so it won't be a factor in a game anyway.

Maybe it's a regional thing, or I need to expand my sphere of contact, but I have yet to meet an experienced official who would allow such overly technical silliness to stand.

When a player satisfies the requirement of touching OOB, to become OOB, he is OOB.
