Start the clock or not

NF 1:20 left in the 4th quarter, 2nd and 11 on the 40 yard line. The score is 29 to 6 in favor of the offensive team. On first down 'A' took a knee, the game clock is running. As they go set for the next snap I see blood on 75A's arm. I stop the clock and send him out. I restart the game clock with a new 25 seconds to run the play. My Back judge tells me after the game that he believes that I should not have started the game clock. Was I right or wrong?

He was wrong. You get him out, get a sub in, wind the clock with a new 25.

Other than your back judge, is anyone in the world going to care? Couldn't you have fictionalized it to make it a situation where someone might?

I was thinking that later I might be in a situation that it would matter and I would like to know the right way.

Blood had to be an issue when a team is clearly taking a knee?

Why did the BJ think the clock should not have been started?

Peace
