FED 8-2-2,3,4 question
Ok so I'm checking into the board a little late this season, so if this question has been answered, please just direct me to the thread....but here goes:
FED rules:
8-2-2,3 state that if the opponents of the scoring team foul during a TD scoring play, then the scoring team has the choice to enforce the penalty on the try or the KO (I'm semi-paraphrasing)
the new 8-2-4 states that during the time interval after the ball becomes dead on a scoring play to the time that the R punches in the inital RFP, if either team fouls, those penalties can be enforced on the try or KO.
The question that has arisen is when the scoring team commits a foul during a scoring play that is otherwise a non-player, or more commonly an unsportsmanlike conduct, foul that this can only be enforced on the succeeding spot, i.e. the try as 8-2-2 and 8-2-3 only address the opponents of the scoring team and 8-2-4 only addresses foul after a scoring play.
So am I right to interpret this as that we have to know if a USC foul by the offense (scoring team) occurs before or after the ball becomes dead as it changes the enforcement options.
thanks for the help (or redirects)....
