Last year I had a game where it was freezing rain and windy. It was the most miserable game I have been a part of. That was the only game of the year where it was cold. Having a jacket for just one game a year would have been well worth the money. I just bought one yesterday and should be here today.

Gloves?!

Jackets?!

Cold gear with temps in the 50's?! Man, that's just getting into long-sleeve territory. Mock turtleneck < 50. Cold gear < 40.

In the 50's around here we're painting stripes on our bare chests and wearing white speedo's.

Cold gear is HOT HOT HOT anytime it's above 50, IMO.

I bought two pair of gloves last season, one Windstopper from Honigs, the other UnderArmor from Dick's Sporting Goods.

The UnderArmor gloves are ideal for cold wet weather. The Windstopper gloves work best with just plain cold weather.

An trick from the days before the UA cold weather or other high tech stuff is is to layer a trash bag between your long underwear and your black undershirt. You will sweat under it so it's not perfect, but it does work in an emergency. Take a large trash bag, put a hole in the middle of the bottom for your head and a hole on each side at the bottom for your arms and then slip it on upside down over you. It really stops the wind and is not bulky.

Has anyone used those maskes that cover your whole face and head? Do they work? Are they worth the money?

Thanks!

I never wear a jacket, I live in Upper Michigan and have reffed in games where they literally had to plow the field at half time and shovel down the yard lines between quarters and during timeouts. I tell all the new guys who are getting stuff to just get the warm weather package (Long sleeve shirt but no jacket) from Honigs.

That jacket is useless, besides looking like ****, being too bulky to move well, and not even being that warm it just makes you colder. As soon as you sweat in that jacket it is horrible. Just layer up, by one shirt a size bigger and wear sweats underneath if you have to.

By the way, its 25 degrees, snowing, and theres about 6" on the ground. . . . .should be a good Friday night
