Another mouthguard question

I just want to make sure I interpret this correctly. The rule says the mouthpiece can't be COMPLETELY white or clear. I saw one last night that was black over the first 4 teeth (two front teeth and 2 bicuspids - sp?) and the rest was clear. I told the coach that was considered legal. Correct?

As long as enough of the mouthpiece is colored in such a way that the observing officials can clearly see that player in fact has a mouthpiece in his mouth then IMO the rule is satisfied.

We have allowed clear mouthpieces when they have a strap and the entire strap is colored or taped in a way that we can tell that player has his mouthpiece in. I would also expect that there are other officials out there that would hold players to the "letter" of the rules that do say mouthpiece must be a solid color and not clear.

The rule book says "other than completely white or completely clear so the one you described would be fine.
