As long as enough of the mouthpiece is colored in such a way that the observing officials can clearly see that player in fact has a mouthpiece in his mouth then IMO the rule is satisfied.

We have allowed clear mouthpieces when they have a strap and the entire strap is colored or taped in a way that we can tell that player has his mouthpiece in. I would also expect that there are other officials out there that would hold players to the "letter" of the rules that do say mouthpiece must be a solid color and not clear.
