Punching the Ball
Saw a player trying to regain control of his dribble on the floor. He tried to punch the ball into bouncing before he got up. Pretty sure "punching" the ball is illegal but can't find it in the rule book.

you cannot strike the ball with a fist. It's a violation.

Something I learned long ago was never to trust anyone about a rule without a rule citation. Once someone gives you information, look it up for yourself to confirm it.

NFHS 9-4; "A player shall not...strike it with the fist..."

It's called fisting. And it's illegal in 13 southern states plus Utah.
