It's possible that foul shots may have resulted earlier. And calling a foul does have an impact on the reaction of some coaches.

But if that player didn't return to the game, having a call here, I agree, wouldn't have changed that fact. (Assuming that's what you're getting at.)

Of course the call/no-call had nothing to do with Trimble's contribution, after that play. My statement was a simple observation, with no intended fault-finding on the part of the officials.
What I meant was that Trimble seemed to be really affected by the contact - he really took a shot on that play - and sat on the bench most of the rest of the game. And, the kick to the face he received, as noted by BNR, not long after that play, didn't help . . .
